The food is fresh, high-quality and available to-go in Relevo reusable containers upon request. The challenge

The two main challenges the CampusTreff had to face were the high loss rate of reusable dishware and the food waste from unsold meals.

A loss rate of 4.48% led to avoidable expenses as well as considerable challenges in logistics and inventory management. Every day, leftover meals had to be dicarded. This did not only result in food waste but also in disposable costs and a missed opportunity for sustainability.

The solution

Relevo offers a transparent, simple, and efficient solution. By implementing the two-factor scan, the return of reusable packaging containers is confirmed via smartphone on the partner platform. This way, both guests and the catering team have the assurance that every item has been returned correctly.

Gabriele Schlierkamp, Head of Economic Services, is enthusiastic: “Thanks to the two-factor scan, we know exactly what is returned. This builds trust and saves significant costs.”

Since July 2025, leftover meals have been packed in Relevo boxes and offered at a discount through the Relevo app as so-called “Rescue Relevos.” Guests receive a daily push notification and can spontaneously enjoy a sustainable and affordable meal.

With the Rescue Relevos, Everyone Wins: Our Guests, the Environment and Us as the Business.

The results

The results speak for themselves, both economically and ecologically. With the help of Relevo, CampusTreff was able to reduce the loss of dishware from 52 items to just 10 missing pieces. This corresponds to a residual loss rate of only 0.94% relative to the number of loans.

The introduction of Rescue Relevos has brought not only increased sustainability but also higher revenue. Instead of having to dispose of valuable food, leftover meals are sold daily. This way, satisfied guests can contribute to environmental protection and help reduce food waste.
